Judith A. DeVriendt (Judy) was born on November 3, 1954. She was raised in New Lenox, Illinois. She has been a Will County resident for over 46 years.

Her father, Bill was a union cement finisher for 40 years and is now retired. Her Mother Ann stayed at home and raised Judy and her six (6) sisters and brothers. Her mother is now deceased but the life lessons she instilled in her family, loyalty, hard work, commitments to God and family are still with her today.

Her husband and best friend, Chuck also an attorney, encouraged her to go to law school after the children were older and she graduated from John Marshall Law School in 1990.

Judy's first job as a lawyer was in the Will County States Attorneys Office. She started as a prosecutor, handling traffic and misdemeanors. Through hard work and dedication, she was promoted often and as a senior felony prosecutor, tried numerous felony cases including armed robbery, home invasion and murder cases. She had a very high conviction rate. Judy resigned from the State's Attorneys Office in 2001 and entered in to private practice, concentrating in family law.

Her early days as a prosecutor in juvenile court protecting children instilled a life long commitment to children safety issues. As a family law attorney, she has handled several custody disputes involving child abuse and neglect.

Her accomplishments are numerous:

  • In 2001, she was elected to The Joliet Junior CollegeBoard of Trustees.
  • In 2006, she served as board president and was instrumental in hiring a new Junior College President.
  • She was recently honored by an invitation to join ZONTA International in 2007, ZONTA is an international service organization dedicated to promoting educational opportunities to our children.

Judy's community service involving the safety and education of our children has been ongoing her entire professional life. Her promise as Will County State's Attorney is to continue to foster programs to protect the children in our communities, to encourage children to remain in school and have educational opportunities available to them in their communities to ensure their success as citizens of Will County Illinois.

Her election to this high office opens more opportunities to promote these important issues beyond any thing she can accomplish as an individual.

Please give her your support.
